Description
The stunning Mendi Arts Centre was developed & transformed from an old Apartheid era Beerhall in Mendi road, New Brighton, by 2014, through the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, at a cost of R25m. The Art Centre launched on 28 Apr 2021, and it's purpose is to serve artists from the entire Metro. The original concept for the Beerhall to be transformed into an Art Centre came from the former Anti-apartheid Arts Association, Imvaba. By 1990 they painted the mural on the front facade of the building as a depiction of their vision.
